About PROJECT BEETLE WALK:

Paul, a 38 year old father of two young children, was crushed when an 850kg electrical switchboard fell on him as it was being craned off a truck. This left him with 11 broken ribs, a punctured lung, severely broken leg and a fracture of the lower spine. As a result, Paul now lives with paraplegia. He has been unable to return to work and his injuries have necessitated many significant adjustments to his life and to the lives of his young family.

It is a miracle that Paul survived this tragic accident but his life has been changed forever. This is your opportunity to assist Paul on his road to recovery.

Paul is determined not to give up and he has enrolled in Project Walk, a program based in San Diego, USA. The mission of Project Walk is to provide an improved quality of life for people with a spinal cord injury through an intense exercise based recovery and rehabilitation program. The ultimate goal of every participant is to walk again and Project Walk through support, encouragement and education are there to assist participants to reach their full functional potential.

Paul is a typical Aussie fighter and Project Walk is already proving to be successful for him. After his first visit, he was able to ride an exercise bike and he anticipates further functional improvement over time. However these visits are unfunded and he needs financial assistance if he is to continue in the program. With your support Paul can continue to improve and hopefully reach his goal of walking again.

“Project Beetle Walk” is a non-profit organisation, created and run by Paul’s mates. Our goal is simple: initially we want to send Paul for treatment in the USA twice a year at a cost of $20,000 p.a. Our second aim is to lobby government and generate funds to support Walk On in Australia, which like Project Walk is a program based on the Dardzinski Method. In this way, not only Paul but all people living in Australia with quadriplegia and paraplegia will have access to this significant rehabilitation and recovery treatment for spinal cord injuries.

Fundraising events commenced in June and will continue, so your ongoing support is vital to the success of Project Beetle Walk. The team plan to hold a golf day, a sportsman’s luncheon, a gala night and a trivia night amongst other things and would love to see you there. We are also seeking your support to provide products and/or services which can be used as prizes and auction items at these events.

To learn more about “Project Beetle Walk”, or to confirm your involvement or purchase a ticket to an event, please contact the project co-ordinator David Talintyre on (02) 9223 8088 or 0417216685.
